21st Sept 2011 : International Day of PEACE

To be honest, i did not know there is a celebration of International Day of Peace and celebrated 30 years ago on this date (doi, malu skejap ni!). I read Irene post on Will There Ever Be World Peace, i still did not know about this day because she did not mention about IDP. Now is lunch hour so i blogwalking and came through Sr. Susan Rose blog. Her post was on International Day of Peace. I read through her post and surf the official website about this event. A'aahh... Now i realize that today is the day of this PEACE celebration!

The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date. It was established by a United Nations resolution in 1981 to coincide with the opening of the General Assembly. The first Peace Day was celebrated in September 1982.

In 2002 the General Assembly officially declared September 21 as the permanent date for the International Day of Peace. By creating the International Day of Peace, the UN devoted itself to worldwide peace and encouraged all of mankind to work in cooperation for this goal. During the discussion of the U.N. Resolution that established the International Day of Peace, it was suggested that:

Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday to legally change his name to Metta World Peace. The move comes just a few days after it was announced that Artest's wife Kimsha has been cast in VH1's Basketball Wives: Los Angeles.

The show premieres Aug. 29 and will likely be one of the first programs to showcase Artest's name change, as the NBA season doesn't start until the fall and the Basketball Wives franchise also features the cast's husbands/significant others.

Artest cites "personal reasons" for the name change, which Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak told ESPN "brought a smile" to his face. Asked whether Artest's jersey will say "Peace" or "World Peace," the GM replied, "I'm an advocate of World Peace."

James is about 23 years old and had attended the University of Edinburgh with a major in English. He did not graduate and decided to take the entrepreneur route by starting a baking business. Yes! It is linked to, "Party Pieces" the Middleton's family business that takes the credit for making them self- made millionaires. There are a few rumors circulating; one, that he doesn't like if if he is not recognized by the public.Another rumor was that he once borrowed a dress from Kate and wore it.

There are rumors out there on the Internet that naked pictures of Scarlett Johansson have been circulating. Even one site has shown them, but no one knows if they had been Photo shopped or are even real. People are suggesting that her phone had been hacked and somehow they got distributed. First of all, do you think that Scarlett Johansson would be that stupid to allow naked pictures of herself be taken when she has been acting since she was a kid and has had an exceptional reputation as an actress? It is sad when the media has to go this far to report on these things. If she did have the pictures taken it is no ones business but her own. She is a such a talented actress and good down to earth person. People should just leave her alone. Let her go on with her work and keep entertaining us with her wonderful acting skills. It is sad that some people from the media have to go this far.

Donna Douglas, the actress who starred in the 1960' hit show, The Beverly Hillbillies has filed a law suit against the Mattel toy company regarding her dismay for the new Ellie May Barbie doll. It was released in December, 2010 by the Mattel toy company. The suit was filed in Baton Rouge, La. stating that there was unauthorized use of the likeness and image to promote and sell the doll. Douglas states that she never endorsed the product. CBS TV Distributions owns the rights to the show, and Mattel stated that they had gone through the appropriate channels for licencing the doll. It was reported that Douglas is seeking 75,000 dollars damage. Douglas had starred in 274 episodes of the show which aired from 1961-1971. Douglas, was married twice and had one son. She was born on September 26,1933 and is 77 years old. She still works today making special appearances at churches. After she left the Beverly Hillbillies, she got a broker's license, but never worked in the area. She currently lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she grew up.

Most recently she bought a home in L.A. and was quoted as saying that the neighbors don't complain if you have a party. She is far from a typical party girl. She is extremely professional and sought after for roles in feature films. She just announced that not only is she engaged, but also expecting a baby in the Spring. The lucky guy is choreographer, Benjamin Millepied. He was born on June 10, 1977 in Bordeaux, France. He also is the principal dancer at the NYC Ballet. He played Ms Portman's dance partner in the highly acclaimed feature film, "Black Swan." This news could not come to a better person. We had interviewed her for "Star Wars" and she was an absolute delight.

We knew that Paul McCartney has been dating New York Socialite Nancy Shevell for 3 years now. What we didn't know was that she was related to Barbara Walters. Barbara had explained on, "The View" that Nancy's mother was Barbara's first cousin. Ms Walters indicated that she was escorted by Paul's son, James who is 33 years old to the Kennedy Center Awards show.
Nancy Shevell is 50 years old and Paul is 67. The couple met more than 20 years ago in East Hampton, where they both had homes. Nancy Shevell was married to Bruce Blakeman, who is a lawyer and the commissioner for the New York Port Authority. Ms Shevell is on the MTA board since 2001. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University.
Shevell is now a vegetarian and seen with McCartney everywhere.

"Becoming Chaz" was featured at the Sundance film festival. It is about the journey that a woman makes to change her gender. It is a documentary about Cher's daughter, Chastity who made the transition to become a guy named, Chaz. The film was picked up by Oprah for the OWN network on January 13th, 2011. Chaz has had a 4 year relationship with Jennifer Elia, who is featured above.
